- Good news for employees this year, your employer contributions rose to 12%, helping you save more for retirement.
- The transfer balance cap and the total super balance both rose to $2 million dollars. Why is this important?
- The proposal to tax unrealised capital gains was quashed. An increase tax was however passed on super balances over $3 million.
- Downsizer legislation changed this year, it’s now available to those 55 and over, (it was 60 previously)
- The super guarantee threshold was removed, even low income / part time workers are now eligible to receive super.
- Converting preference shares are being phased out by APRA.
- Contribution limits to super are still low, which is disappointing.
